Household identity and saved groups

Someone only the partner account knows

The scan reads the primary account only, and bind adds to somebody the store already holds, so a person tagged only in the partner's library (their side of the family, say) comes in by hand. Export the store, add them with the partner's ID, and import it back:

immich-memories people export --to people.yaml
people:
# ...everyone already there, left as it is...
- name: Jo
ids:
partner: [<person-id-in-partner-account>]
immich-memories people import --from people.yaml --replace

--replace is needed because the store already holds people; the import checks every entry before it writes anything. A later people scan keeps the entry, since its ID belongs to another account, and people show lists it with that ID for a group to name.

Saved groups

A label for a people condition you'll reuse, instead of retyping --person every time:

immich-memories people group add "Kids" '"<alex-id>" OR "<sam-jr-id>"'
immich-memories people group list
immich-memories generate --group "Kids" --accounts primary,partner --memory-type multi_person --year 2026
✓ Saved group 'Kids': ("<alex-id>" OR "<sam-jr-id>")

The expression takes OR, AND and brackets, like --people-expression: OR keeps a moment with either child in it, AND one with both, even when each is only on one partner's copy of that afternoon (generate). The web UI has the same thing under Saved groups on the People settings page:

The Saved groups section of the People page, with one group and the form that adds anotherThe Saved groups section of the People page, with one group and the form that adds another

On the New memory page, a saved group is a chip under People for a Multi-Person film; picking it replaces the names.

Write the people as store person IDs, not names: people show lists each person's ID next to their name, people bind prints it too (Alex (<id>)), and people export lists every person's ids. A name is accepted but kept as typed: a rename breaks it, and automation, which counts a group's pictures by ID, skips a named group under its default settings.

--group resolves like --people-expression, against the people store, at generate time: renaming or re-binding somebody in the store is picked up the next time the group runs, with no group edit needed. A group holds no copied names or dates, and groups don't nest.
