Output Filename​

The filename is auto-generated from your selections: person names, date range, and memory type. Examples:

  • alice_bob_march_2025_memories.mp4 (Multi-Person, March 2025)
  • alice_summer_2025_memories.mp4 (Season preset)
  • alice_2025_memories.mp4 (Year in Review)
  • everyone_jan-apr_2025_memories.mp4 (Custom, no person)

You can edit the filename before generating.

Dividers​

The tool automatically picks the right divider style based on your date range:

  • Month dividers (e.g., "January", "February"): for 4+ month ranges within a single year
  • Year dividers (e.g., "2023", "2024"): for multi-year ranges and "On This Day" memories
  • No dividers: for trips, single months, and ranges of 3 months or less

Generation Progress​

Progress is shown in real-time as the tool:

  1. Downloads selected clips from Immich
  2. Processes and encodes each clip (with hardware acceleration if available)
  3. Generates music (if enabled)
  4. Assembles everything into the final video with transitions, title screens, and audio mixing

Live Frame Preview​

During generation, a live preview image updates in real-time as each frame is assembled. You can watch the video take shape clip by clip without waiting for the full render to complete. The preview converts HDR frames to SDR for display and is throttled to avoid overloading the browser.

Download​

When generation completes, you get a download button. The video is also saved to ~/Videos/Memories/ in a timestamped directory.

Re-generating​

If the result isn't right, go back to Step 2 or 3, adjust your clip selection or settings, and generate again. The analysis cache means you won't have to re-analyze anything.
